From the Office of the Chief of Police: My Heartfelt Thanks

Thank You For Your Support of the Virginia Beach Police Department

To Virginia Beach - on behalf of the entire VBPD, we extend our heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of support you have shown in the aftermath of our unimaginable loss. The deaths of Officers Cameron Girvin and Christopher Reese have been devastating. Your kindness and compassion have been a source of comfort and strength for all of us.

The bond between VBPD and this community has never been more evident than in these past weeks as we collectively came together to honor and remember our fallen heroes. From the touching tributes to the generous acts of altruism, your presence has reminded us that we do not mourn alone. The way this community has stood beside us in sorrow is a testament to the deep connection we share.

Please know how much your kindness means to us as we continue to heal. We are proud to serve a community that lifts each other up in times of heartache and stands together in both sorrow and strength. Thank you for being there for us, just as we will always be here for you.

Beyond our city, we have been profoundly moved by the encouragement we have received from across Hampton Roads, the Commonwealth, and the entire nation—as well as from as far away as Israel and the United Kingdom. The outpouring of condolences and solidarity from fellow public safety partners, military personnel, and medical professionals has been a source of immense comfort. Your unwavering support reaffirms the strength of our greater public safety community and the shared commitment to service that binds us all.

With deepest appreciation from the Virginia Beach Police Department,

Paul W. Neudigate
