Deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney Tabitha Anderson Receives Prestigious Award at VA Prosecutors’ Conference
Virginia Beach, Va. – At a statewide Virginia prosecutors’ conference on August 2, 2025, the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Services Council (CASC) presented the 2025 Michael R. Doucette Lecturer of Merit Award to Deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney Tabitha Anderson. The award is named after longtime Commonwealth’s Attorney for Lynchburg who is now a Circuit Court judge. This award recognizes dedicated leadership and a commitment to training fellow prosecutors.
Ms. Anderson has served the criminal justice system for 25 years as both a prosecutor and a public defender. She currently supervises the First Precinct Prosecution Team. Ms. Anderson has a Juris Doctor and a Doctor of Strategic Leadership from Regent University. She has provided extensive training for prosecutors, law enforcement officers, law schools and colleges.
In 2023, Ms. Anderson received the Virginia Beach Bar Association Joseph L. Lyle, Jr. Professionalism Award. She developed a new leadership training program for Virginia’s supervising prosecutors that she provides each year and taught at the National District Attorneys’ Association Leadership Academy. She is on the faculty of CASC Trial Ad, Advanced Trial Ad, facilitates the Spring Institute Leadership Track and is working with a team to bring wellness training to CASC. In addition to teaching and prosecuting cases, she makes herself available to mentor and provide guidance to other prosecutors.
"With her dedication and experience, Tabitha is an asset both to the Virginia Beach Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office and to prosecutors throughout Virginia,” Commonwealth’s Attorney Colin Stolle said. “I appreciate her willingness to travel and train prosecutors throughout the state, so that we can ensure Virginia’s prosecutors have the tools they need to keep their communities safe.”
