53 Arrests Resulting in Numerous Criminal Charges During Spring Break Weekend
City Reinforces Commitment to Public Safety
During “Spring Break Weekend,” from the evening of April 25 to the early morning of April 27, 2025, the Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) worked diligently to welcome and ensure the safety of all visitors to our city, especially the Resort Area.
Unfortunately, not all that visited the Oceanfront area this past weekend came to have a good time; many came with criminal aspirations. In addition to dealing with large crowds of teens and young adults, VBPD officers responded to several shots fired and shooting-related offenses during the weekend, including ShotSpotter activations and a person shot in the 1400 block of Pacific Avenue on Sunday morning.
As a result, VBPD made 53 arrests, resulting in close to 200 hundred criminal charges, in a 48-hour period. Many of the charges were related to firearms violations, with a minimum of 28 firearms confiscated. VBPD arrested the following non-comprehensive list of individuals for various firearms-, violence-, or disorder-related offenses:

Our city is proud to welcome visitors from across the country and around the world,” said Chief Neudigate. “However, let me be clear: we will not allow individuals who come here to commit crimes — especially those involving firearms — to disrupt the peace and safety we have worked hard to build. We had enhanced staffing in place to maintain order, deter criminal actions, and seek out those engaged in illegal firearm acts – our officers acted swiftly and professionally this weekend to ensure that those who endangered our community were caught and held accountable.”
Officials are working closely with community partners to ensure that Virginia Beach remains a safe, welcoming, and thriving destination for everyone.
