Students, Submit Your Art for the 2027 Water Awareness Calendar Contest
Virginia Beach students in kindergarten through fifth grade invited to illustrate how to use water wisely.
Virginia Beach Public Utilities is accepting entries for the 2027 Water Awareness Calendar Contest! ach year, Public Utilities conducts the Water Awareness Calendar Contest to help educate residents of Virginia Beach about different ways to use water wisely. The calendar’s theme is “How I use water wisely in and around my home.”
Do you know of an artist in kindergarten through fifth grade who lives or attends school in Virginia Beach? Have your young artist illustrate a picture of how they use water wisely and submit it with a completed entry form by Friday, March 6.
Thirteen winners will be chosen to have full page displays of their artwork in the 2027 Water Awareness Calendar. The winners will also be honored at an official awards ceremony in the spring.
The illustration can be about:
- Water conservation
- Backflow prevention
- Keeping fats, oil, and grease out of the sanitary sewer system
- What not to flush, only flushing the “3 P’s: Pee, Poop and (Toilet) Paper”
Contest Instructions
Entries may be created with crayons, colored pencils, paint, pens, or colored markers. All words must be printed neatly in large dark print. Artwork must be submitted on 8 ½-by-11-inch white paper or poster board and drawn in landscape orientation (11-inch side horizontal). Only original artwork will be accepted.
Artwork entries can be mailed, dropped off or sent by interoffice mailed by a teacher to:

Normal working hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. No entries will be accepted without a completed entry form.
