Submit Applications for Summer Cooling Assistance Starting June 15
Virginia Energy Assistance Program helps eligible residents buy or repair cooling equipment, pay electric bills.

Applications for cooling assistance will be accepted online at CommonHelp.Virginia.gov beginning Sunday, June 15. Beginning Monday, June 16, residents may submit a print application during normal hours at the Virginia Beach Department of Human Services main office, 3432 Virginia Beach Blvd., or in the outside drop box.
The program provides financial assistance for residents to purchase or repair cooling equipment and/or to pay for an electric bill to operate cooling equipment. Â
To be eligible, a household must contain at least one vulnerable individual who is: Â
- Less than 6 years old Â
- More than 60 years old Â
- Disabled Â
In addition, households must: Â
- Be in Virginia Beach Â
- Have a cooling expense responsibility Â
- Provide a copy of their current electric bill Â
- Not exceed earned and unearned income limits Â
