Music to Your Ears: VBGIGs Performance Added to Vocal Jazz Summit
Free, family-friendly series featuring world-class, culturally rooted artists continues in 2026.
VBGIGs (Virginia Beach Globally Inspired Gatherings) returns at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, June 5, in the Zeiders American Dream Theater, 4509 Commerce St., with “Songs of Home & Belonging.”Â
The performance is free and open to the public. Register online in advance to reserve your spot. Those without advance tickets will be admitted on a first-come, first-served basis, depending on available seating.Â
From the Armenian plains to the Australian outback, from Havana to Shanghai, songs of home express longing, identity, and belonging. Through jazz reinterpretation, Veronica Swift and Matt Baker explore how different cultures define home, and how music keeps home alive across distance, diaspora and time.Â
“Songs of Home & Belonging” is presented as part of the Zeiders American Dream Theater’s annual Vocal Jazz Summit, a premier performance and education conference created to serve emerging and established vocalists, industry leaders and jazz lovers with an immersive experience of growth and connection.Â

VBGIGs is presented by the Virginia Beach Cultural Affairs Department in alignment with the City of Virginia Beach Arts Plan 2030. VBGIGs encourages residents to learn about neighbors near and far to spark cultural curiosity through the performing arts. Children receive a VBGIGs passport and collectible destination stickers to track the world regions they “visit” at VBGIGs performances.
Additional 2026 performances will be announced as scheduled. For more information and to register for VBGIGs events, visit the Cultural Affairs events calendar or email artsinfo@vbgov.com.Â
