It's National Voter Registration Day. Are You Ready to Vote?
Early voting begins Sept. 22 for the General Election. Here’s what you need to know to cast your ballot.
The General Election for State Senate, House of Delegates and Soil and Water Conservation Director will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 7. To be able to vote in the upcoming election, anyone who is not registered, or any registered voter who needs to make a change to their registration address or name, must submit a Voter Registration Application no later than the close of business on Monday, Oct. 16.
If you prefer to register in person, you can visit the Voter Registration & Elections Office, 2449 Princess Anne Road, Municipal Center Building 14, any Virginia Beach Public Library location, or any Virginia Beach DMV office during normal business hours. Online registration is available at any time online at elections.virginia.gov.
Virginia Beach voters can cast an early, in-person ballot for the candidates of their choice starting Friday, Sept. 22, at the Office of Voter Registration & Elections. Early voting is available between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and on Saturdays, Oct. 28 and Nov. 4, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
On Saturday, Oct. 28, five satellite voting locations will open in addition to the Office of Voter Registration & Elections. Votes may be cast between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Oct. 28 through Nov. 4.

- Great Neck Recreation Center, 2521 Shorehaven Drive
- Seatack Recreation Center, 141 S. Birdneck Road
- Kempsville Area Library, 832 Kempsville Road
- Meyera E. Oberndorf Central Library, 4100 Virginia Beach Blvd.
There is no early voting on Sundays.
Important Dates
- Sept. 22: First day of in-person early voting at the Office of Voter Registration & Elections
- Oct. 16: Voter registration deadline (by close of business).
- Oct. 27: Vote-by-mail applications must be received by 5 p.m.
- Nov. 4: Early in-person voting ends at 5 p.m.
- Nov. 7: Absentee ballots must be returned by 7 p.m. to the Voter Registration & Elections Office.
