Get the 411 on Housing Resources in Virginia Beach

Free event on Oct. 24 will offer information for housing needs.

Paper cutouts of Houses with a question mark

Are you interested in purchasing a home but unsure about the process? Do you need affordable rental housing but don’t know where to look?

Anyone who would like to know about programs that may be able to provide relief for taxes, utility payments, critical home repairs and more are invited to connect with organizations at the Housing 411 resource fair, 5:30-7 p.m., on Oct. 24 at the Meyera E. Oberndorf Central Library, 4100 Virginia Beach Blvd.

As part of Housing America Month, the free event will feature City agencies, nonprofits and housing providers who can share informational resources on a variety of housing-related needs, including:

  • Affordable rental housing
  • Homebuyer assistance and educational programs
  • Landlord/tenant issues
  • Utility assistance programs
  • Taxpayer relief programs
  • Housing counseling
  • Eviction or foreclosure prevention
  • Fair housing
  • Code enforcement

Virginia Beach Housing & Neighborhood Preservation is hosting the event in recognition of Housing America Month. The National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO) first designated Housing America Month in 2007 “to raise awareness of the need for, and the importance of safe, decent and affordable housing in quality communities.”
