FitPop: Bringing Fitness to Neighborhoods Across Virginia Beach
A new, free community wellness initiative makes movement more accessible, inclusive and fun for everyone.
Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation is launching FitPop, a new community wellness initiative designed to make fitness more accessible, inclusive and engaging for residents across the city. Built on the idea that wellness should meet people where they are, FitPop brings free, pop-up fitness experiences directly into parks and community spaces.Â
FitPop offers a wide variety of programming designed for all fitness levels and interests. Participants can expect cardio and strength training, dance fitness, line dancing, guided walks, and restorative movement classes, such as stretch and release. Alongside physical activity, the program also includes wellness education focused on overall health and lifestyle support.Â
Each class is led by certified fitness professionals and designed to be adaptable, welcoming participants of all abilities.Â
FitPop LaunchÂ
To officially kick off the initiative, the fitness and wellness unit will host a FitPop launch event, 9-10 a.m., Saturday, May 9, at Red Wing Park. This special event will highlight the FitPop experience, featuring a high-energy cardio and resistance class led in a welcoming outdoor setting. Â
The launch event gives residents a chance to jump in, get moving and learn more about upcoming FitPop classes happening in neighborhoods across Virginia Beach.Â

More than FitnessÂ
At its core, FitPop removes barriers and represents more than a fitness program. It’s a city-wide investment in connection, wellness and community access. By bringing fitness into neighborhoods and offering all programming at no cost, the initiative helps eliminate common challenges such as transportation, cost and access to facilities.Â
