Big Fun for Little Ones: Celebrating Children Returns to Mount Trashmore Park
Imagination and movement take center stage April 18 at free event designed especially for young children and families.
A beloved community event transforms Mount Trashmore Park into a hub of energy and discovery. Celebrating Children, hosted by Virginia Beach GrowSmart in partnership with Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation, is a free, family-friendly event 8:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 18.
Families can kick off the morning with a cheerful fun run before diving into a variety of hands-on activities — from crafts and games to inflatables and interactive play zones. Live music and entertainment keep the atmosphere lively, while local organizations are on hand to connect families with valuable resources that support early learning and healthy development.
Fun Run
The family fun run is free and open to everyone, but advanced registration is required to reserve a race packet for you and your family members.
Packets can be picked up at Mount Trashmore Park on the day of the event, April 18. Each packet includes a race bib with safety pins, an event map and goodies in a drawstring bag.
Every Fun Run participant receives a medal!
Celebrate Our Youth
At its heart, Celebrating Children is about more than just fun — it’s about creating meaningful moments, encouraging curiosity and supporting the growth of Virginia Beach’s youngest residents.
Whether you’re there for the games, the music or simply time together outdoors, this event is a chance to celebrate the joy, energy and limitless potential of childhood.
