All Aboard the New Bookmobile!
Get a sneak peek at Virginia Beach Public Library’s latest “driving force” in literacy.
Celebrate the launch of Virginia Beach Public Library’s (VBPL) new Bookmobile at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 16, at Central Library. Enjoy a brief ribbon cutting ceremony, take a tour of the new vehicle and be among the first residents to check out library materials while on board!
The new bookmobile, funded by grants from the Virginia Beach Library Foundation and the City of Virginia Beach, will bring the benefits of the library to residents of all ages throughout the city, including senior centers, schools, community events, preschools and childcare centers. With stadium bench seating that fits up to 18 preschoolers for storytime, the bookmobile is a classroom on wheels.
If you’re unable to attend the event at Central Library, you’ll have opportunities to tour the bookmobile as it visits each library branch in late August through September. Visit VBPL’s program calendar to see when the bookmobile will be in your neck of the woods. You can also request a bookmobile visit to your community event by completing an outreach request on VBPL’s website.
The Virginia Beach Library Foundation is a 501c3 public nonprofit whose mission is to secure, manage, and invest privately raised funds, gifts and bequests in support of Virginia Beach Public Library. To learn more, visit www.vblibraryfoundation.org.
