

The Virginia Beach Human Rights Commission (VBHRC) serves as an advisory agency to the City Council to:
- Institute, conduct, and engage in educational and informational programs for the promotion of mutual understanding and respect among residents and the fulfillment of human rights.
- Serve as a forum for discussion of human rights issues, to conduct studies, and to propose solutions for the improvement of human relations in the City.
- Provide assistance to persons who believe their rights have been violated by identifying the appropriate federal, state or local agency to address the complaint
and referring such persons to that agency.
Members
Membership is comprised of 15 persons appointed by City Council representing a diverse cross-section of the community who serve as volunteers.
Meetings
Regular meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month beginning at 4 p.m. and are open to the public. Review the schedule for dates and locations.
Serve on the VBHRC
Residents may register their interest in serving on the commission by completing a confidential resume form for the Talent Bank and returning it to the City Clerk.
HRC Annual Report
The HRC's annual report provides a summary of fiscal year activities for the commission including volunteering, supported events and initiatives.
