Know Before You Go with the Beach Report: Get Beach Status Texts to Help Plan Your Next Beach Day
Virginia Beach Emergency Communications & Citizen Services is launching the Beach Report, a new text alert service that will help you plan your next beach day. Residents and visitors can opt-in to receive status updates on beach conditions.
The Beach Report will notify you of the following types of conditions:
- Red flags due to rough surf
- Red flags due to rip currents
- Beach closures due to water quality concerns
- Beach closures due to electrical storms
Simply text BEACH to 67283 to enroll.
You may also call 3-1-1 in Virginia Beach (or 757-385-3111) to ask about beach conditions.
Beach Report messages will be sent mid-May through mid-September and will only be sent to notify users of a change in normal status. If there is something to report, you will receive a message after 10:30 a.m.
