Virginia Beach Cultural Affairs Announces Additional Summer Pop Up Performances
Continuing on a successful series launched in spring 2021, the Virginia Beach Cultural Affairs Department has added additional "#VBArts On Tour" pop up performance events through late August.
These low-tech, street-performer style 'tours' put artists in neighborhoods, at community markets, in parks and outside of key venues as a jump start, helping our community re-engage with live performances, support their favorite local artists, and bring small-scale, convenient concerts to all corners of the City.
So far, #VBArts On Tour has livened up Virginia Beach Town Center with music outside of the Sandler Center for the Performing Arts and Zeiders American Dream Theater, activated the City of Virginia Beach's public art installation "Barreled" as a mini-concert venue, celebrated the Juneteenth holiday and more! All #VBArts On Tour performances are FREE and open to the public. No advanced RSVPs required.
See below for a list of upcoming performance dates and locations:
July 31 | 4:30 p.m. | Kempes Landing Park, 524 Kempsville Road
Originally scheduled on June 12, Philippines Independence Day but canceled due to weather, #VBArts On Tour celebrates Philippine culture through music, dance and martial arts at Kempes Landing Park on July 31. The Philippine Cultural Center of Virginia, Philippine Rondalia Ensemble of Virginia, School of Creative and Performing Arts and Kuntaw Filipino Martial Arts will put on FREE performances throughout the park. Bring your family, friends and neighbors, and make sure to bring your own chair or blanket to sit on during the performances.
July 31 | 3 - 7 p.m. | National Night Out at Green Run High School, 1700 Dahlia Drive
During National Night Out, various artists will perform and activities will be available at Green Run High School. The evening will be highlighted by a performance by "The Janitors," featuring their tight blend of Rhythm & Blues, 60's Soul, 70's Funk, Country, Classic rock and current Top 40 Dance, which will keep people of all ages dancing from the first note 'til the last!
Aug. 12 | 5 - 7 p.m. | Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA), 2200 Parks Ave.
Ballet Virginia will be LIVE at the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art on Aug. 12, performing music and dance in two sets for museum guests in the early evening!

Aug. 19 | 5 - 7 p.m. | Red Wing Park, 1398 General Booth Blvd.
Symphonicity will perform in pockets through the Japanese cherry blossom gardens and front of Red Wing Park. Get outdoors and enjoy some music with your family, friends and neighbors, and be on the lookout for hidden musicians throughout the park.
These programs are possible in large part due to the partnership and significant logistical assistance of the host sites: The ViBe Creative District, Sandler Center for the Performing Arts, Zeiders American Dream Theater, Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art, Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation, and Virginia Beach Resort Management Office.
