Verbal Altercation Escalates to a Shooting - Arrest Made
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Members of the Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) Warrant Fugitive Unit (WFU) located a suspect who was wanted for a shooting incident that occurred on August 28, 2021.
On August 28, 2021 at 8:31 p.m. Virginia Beach Emergency Communications (VBECCS) received 911 calls that a man had shot a firearm towards a person in the 700 block of Olivieri Lane. There were no injuries reported.
The initial investigation revealed that the suspect and victim, who are known to each other, were engaged in a verbal altercation while outside of a residence on Olivieri Lane. The argument escalated when the suspect produced a firearm and discharged it in the direction of the victim. The victim's vehicle sustained damage from the gunfire.
The suspect was identified as 33-year-old James Romell Moss of Virginia Beach. Members of the VBPD WFU took him into custody, without incident on September 14, 2021. Moss has been charged with attempted malicious wounding and use of a firearm in commission of a felony. He is currently being held in the Virginia Beach City Jail.
