VBPD Promotes New Sergeants and Lieutenants
VIRGNIA BEACH, Va. – Chief Paul W. Neudigate promoted ten sworn officers today during a promotion ceremony at the Law Enforcement Training Academy, where they were surrounded by family and fellow colleagues.
The following sergeants were promoted to the rank of Lieutenant: John Belsha, Ryan Jason, Shawn Langley, and Rachel Wigand.
The following officers were promoted to the rank of Sergeant: Theodore Cronk, Joshua Ford, Jessica Hosang, Joshua Massel, Michael Silba Jr., and Michael Marsolais.
"It is a wonderful day in Virginia Beach when we get to promote within and move our folks up to new and exciting leadership positions," said Chief Neudigate, who also recognized the families who provide the backbone of support. "We really have to thank the families; we know when you dedicate the time and resources in preparing for such a momentous occasion it takes time away from the family, and we thank you for supporting them so that they can be prepared to take the next step."
Chief Neudigate emphasized the next phase of responsibilities for the newly minted Lieutenants and Sergeants. "Sergeants you are really where the rubber meets the road," said Chief Neudigate. "You are really going to set the tone for this organization. Help them make good decisions, represent the ethics and the morals of this agency. Lieutenants, I need you to give the guidance, leadership, and mentorship to the Sergeants. Make sure they have what they need."
