VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - VBPD 2nd precinct officers were dispatched to reports of "shots fired" in the 2300 block of Atlantic Avenue at 5:00 a.m. on July 1st. There were no injuries reported, and the suspect had fled the scene prior to the arrival of officers.

The first officers on scene located evidence of a shooting and immediately shared that information with investigators. Detectives were able to collect additional evidence that quickly led them to identify the suspect.

Within just a few hours, investigators were able to identify the suspect, obtain warrants, and make the arrest; due to the commitment, dedication, and teamwork of those VBPD officers and investigators assigned to this case.

25-year-old Kevon Demetrius Combs-Randolph, of Suffolk, VA, has been charged with reckless handling of a firearm and discharging a firearm in a public place.
