*Update* Barricade Situation - Regency Drive

​*Update*38-year-old Tyquan Lamar Perry of Virginia Beach was arrested and charged with robbery, use of a caustic agent to cause injury and simple assault on law enforcement.On September 16th, 2020 at 12:25 pm Virginia Beach Emergency Communications received a report of an assault at the Kangaroo gas station located at 1912 Laskin Road.Responding officers located the victim of the assault, who sustained a non-life-threatening injury, and established that a robbery had occurred. The suspect was quickly tracked to a residence in the 700 block of Regency Drive. Officers attempted to make contact with the suspect, but he refused all communication. It was established that the suspect was the only occupant of the residence.Virginia Beach Special Operations personnel responded to assist with the barricade situation. After an extended period of time trying to make contact with the suspect, a chemical agent was deployed to compel the suspect to exit the residence. Police ultimately breached the door to gain access, at which time the suspect threw a mallet type weapon, striking an officer. A police K9 was then utilized to assist in making the arrest. Both the injured officer and the suspect were transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
