Tips from Attentive Citizens Help VBPD Locate Armed Burglary Suspects

​VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – A quick response by officers to a call for an armed burglary and help from several attentive citizens who called 911 to report suspicious behavior, led to the quick apprehension of two suspects.

On July 25, 2021 at 10:00 p.m., two armed men forced their way into a residence in the 3000 block of Kings Row Court demanding money. The suspects assaulted the victim before fleeing on foot. Virginia Beach Emergency Communications received additional 911 calls from citizens to report the suspects' suspicious behavior, and to provide descriptions. Officers located the described suspects and placed them into custody without incident. After further investigation, they were both arrested. 22-year-old Kyontez Aumere Leak and 28-year-old David Shaequane Townsend were charged with robbery, 2 counts of use of a firearm in commission of a felony, breaking & entering with the intent to commit a felony and conspiracy to commit a felony. They are both being held in the Virginia Beach City Jail.
