Sandler Center to Host Closing Reception for Gallery Exhibition on Aug. 2
The Sandler Center for the Performing Arts and the Virginia Beach Cultural Affairs Department will host a closing reception for "Florabunda – A Painted Garden," by artist Stephanie Lawing, on Monday, Aug. 2, from 6-8 p.m. in the Sandler Center Art Gallery.
Born in New York and now living in Virginia Beach, floral artist Stephanie Lawing's work reflects "a universal desire to find a moment where the world fades away in favor of something simple, natural and beautiful." Lawing uses mostly acrylic paint and photos as her medium, and regularly heads out into nature to seek out the perfect bloom for her next inspiration.
"My paintings celebrate petals that twist, turn and head in all directions as if caught in a breeze," said Lawing. "Their delicate folds, creases, hollows, and hills roll through the composition. Their colors range from muted creams and yellows, to the most vibrant and exciting colors hues nature produces. My hope is that my paintings might provide a stunning image to be considered in detail and admired at length."
Artwork in the gallery is available for purchase. Visit www.stephanielawing.com to learn more about Stephanie Lawing and to purchase her artwork. You can also follow her on social media @lawingartstudio on Instagram and @stephanielawingart on Facebook.
