Planning & Community Development Director Announces New Permits and Inspections Administrator

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (September 10, 2020) —Scott Steen, CBO, MCP has been appointed Permits and Inspections Administrator for the City of Virginia Beach, following a competitive search process to fill the vacancy left by the retirement of longtime Permits and Inspections Administrator Cheri Hainer.Steen has worked in construction all his professional life, and began his career with the City of Virginia Beach in August 2005 as a Plans Examiner I. He progressed to Plans Examiner II and then Plans Review Supervisor. Along the way he has accrued an impressive 46 International Code Council certifications including Certified Building Official (CBO) and Master Code Professional (MCP). Scott was named as Interim Permits and Inspections Administrator in February 2020. "Scott's extensive knowledge of the construction industry and the codes that govern it made him an ideal candidate for the position," said Planning Director Robert "Bobby" J. Tajan, AICP, CFM.
