Domestic Related Barricade Incident – Arrest Made
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – On September 21, 2021 at 1:30 p.m. Virginia Beach Emergency Communications (VBECCS) received calls for a domestic related incident and reports that a man had fired a weapon in front of a residence in the 3600 block of Ship Chandlers Wharf.
The first officers to arrive at the case location observed a man and a woman engaged in a physical altercation at the threshold of the home. The female victim was able to step outside as the male suspect retreated into the home. Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) SWAT and Negotiators responded to assist after the suspect repeatedly refused to comply with officers' directions to exit the home.
At 3:22 p.m. the suspect was taken into custody without further incident. 22-year-old Jonathan Carlos Contreras, of Virginia Beach, was arrested and charged with use of a firearm in commission of a felony, domestic assault and breaking and entering with intent to commit a felony. He is being held in the Virginia Beach City Jail.
