Charges Filed After a Dog Was Attacked on Chics Beach

​On June 23, 2020, at approximately 11:40 p.m., Emergency Communications received a call from a citizen advising a dog was being attacked on the beach by another dog at Lauderdale Avenue and the sand beach in the City of Virginia Beach. Police responded and the investigation was later turned over to Animal Control. The victim dog was transported by the owners to a local emergency clinic where it was humanely euthanized due to injuries sustained during the attack. The attacking dogs owner, 36-year-old Taryn N. Subeh, of Virginia Beach, was charged with Animals on the Beach, failure to control 6-5E, Fail to Pay Tax 5-305 (no city license), and Vaccination or Inoculation of a Dog 5-200 (no rabies vaccine), and for a Dangerous Dog Determination hearing 3.5-6540, and released on summons. The court date is set for July 13, 2020.The dog in question is being held at Virginia Beach Animal Control until the court hearing.. The case remains under investigation by Animal Control Officers Erica Lewis and Kelsey Davenport as the lead investigators.
