Beach is Still Closed for Activity Other Than Exercise and Fishing

​We would like to remind everyone that the Governor's Executive Order, which prohibits activity at the beach other than for exercise and fishing, is still in effect.The beautiful weather we are experiencing this weekend inspires people to go outside to be active and that is encouraged; however, we have observed a growing number of people lingering on the beach and boardwalk and hanging out in groups larger than 10 people. Many restaurants and businesses are still in operation at the oceanfront, so we ask that once you receive your order you move along as not to create large gatherings. We would also like to remind everyone that while it has been permitted for restaurants to sell alcoholic beverages on a “to go” basis, it is still illegal to consume those alcoholic beverages in public.We want everyone in our community to understand the seriousness of the public health threat that COVID-19 presents, and the measures being taken are to reduce the spread of the disease. We are hopeful that voluntary compliance can be obtained, and no enforcement action will be necessary.It has been directed, by the governor, that the stay at home order remain in full effect until June 10th. A violation of this order is a class 1 misdemeanor, noncompliance of this order is punishable by up to 12 months in jail, a fine of up to $2,500, or both.
