The 9-1-1 phone lines are still operational. Residents trying to reach the non-emergency line are advised to dial 9-1-1.

The City is currently experiencing intermittent phone issues involving incoming and outgoing calls. This connectivity issue is impacting the non-emergency number, 757-385-5000, and the 3-1-1 information line. Any resident who is unable to reach a dispatcher at the non-emergency number should hang up and call 9-1-1.

The City's 9-1-1 lines are unaffected by this problem as they are on a different system, however, please be advised that callers may be asked to wait on hold as 9-1-1 call takers will prioritize emergencies.

Residents may still reach 3-1-1 via the online chat portal (accessible from the VBgov.com homepage).

The provider is currently working to fix the telecommunications problem and an updated communication will be sent out once the issue has been resolved.
