UPDATE: Virginia Beach Moving to Include Walk-up COVID-19 Vaccination Registration at Convention Center

Schedule an appointment to guarantee a vaccine; walk-up registrants will be provided limited, same-day vaccinations as available.

People who live and work in Virginia Beach and wish to receive a COVID-19 vaccine no longer need to wait for an invitation from the Health Department to schedule an appointment.

Starting next week, the vaccination clinic at the Virginia Beach Convention Center is offering walk-up registration for patients who would like to receive a COVID-19 vaccine.

"A limited number of same-day vaccinations will be available for people who walk-up to register," said Ed Brazle, Emergency Medical Services Chief and Incident Commander for the vaccination clinic. "To guarantee vaccine availability, though, we're still encouraging people to schedule an appointment directly in the CDC's Vaccine Administration Management System (VAMS). The new link that people can use to schedule their appointments directly in VAMS will be available no later than Monday morning at https://emergency.vbgov.com/coronavirus."

Walk-up registration at the Convention Center will be available between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. on the following days:

  • Monday, April 12 & 19
  • Wednesday, April 14 & 21
  • Thursday, April 15 & 22

"We're continually looking for ways to make it easier for people to get a shot. Now that the supply has improved, we want to offer walk-up registration, not only to simplify the process for folks who have been struggling with registration because of problems with technology or access to the Internet, but to make it convenient for people to just stop by and get vaccinated," said Brazle. "The slots for walk-up registrants will be available on a first come, first served basis, however, anyone who comes in to schedule an appointment will, at minimum, be scheduled for another clinic if a same-day vaccination is not available."

As a reminder, 16- and 17-year-olds are only eligible to receive the Pfizer vaccine and must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. No one may be vaccinated prior to their 16th birthday.
