CORRECTION: Six Applicants Shortlisted for Lynnhaven District City Council Vacancy

A total of 14 residents submitted complete applications for the Lynnhaven District City Council vacancy created following James L. Woods' resignation (effective Sept. 1). The Virginia Beach City Council reviewed a total of 14 complete applications. The City Council, which is authorized under State code to fill the vacancy until a special election is scheduled, has narrowed the field to six individuals who will move forward for interviews. They are:

On Tuesday, Sept. 28, the City Council will hold a Special Session for public interviews in the City Council Chamber at the Municipal Center, 2401 Courthouse Drive, Bldg. 1. Candidates will be called in alphabetical order and given 10 minutes to make a presentation followed by questions from Council Members. The City Council will convene into closed session for additional discussion and may further narrow the field of candidates.

Citizens will have the opportunity to provide feedback to the City Council during a special session on Tuesday, Oct. 5. Following public comment, the City Council will proceed to closed session for deliberation and then return to open session to make a formal vote on an appointment to fill the Lynnhaven District vacancy.
