Arrests Made for Two Recent Shooting Incidents

​Investigators stay persistent in their efforts to solve crimes. Due to the hard work and dedication of our detectives, arrests have been made for two recent shooting incidents.

On March 15, 2021, the Virginia Beach Police Department Warrant Fugitive Unit arrested a teenage juvenile for a shooting that occurred on January 4, 2021 that left one person injured in the 5900 block of Wesleyan Drive. The teenager was charged with robbery, malicious wounding and use of a firearm in commission of a felony.

On March 20, 2021 members of the Virginia Beach Police Department’s Warrant Fugitive Squad made an arrest for a shooting that left one man injured in the 1100 block of Pacific Ave on March 14th.

41-year-old Carlos Velez has been charged with use of a firearm in commission of a felony, felonious assault, grand larceny, possession of a controlled substance and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
