City Clerk

The City Clerk provides a historical record of the governing body (some records date as early as the 1860s); prepares and distributes the City Council agenda, minutes, and summary of action; provides administrative services to City Council and citizens; attests to all official documents ensuring compliance with legislative law and City Council action, and provides and monitors legal advertising.

All staff members have continued their education at Old Dominion University and are certified or working towards certification through the International Institute of Municipal Clerks in procedures, ethics, and conduct.
